Kintsugi Hope

Technology solution for a mental health charity

The Client

Kintsugi Hope is a UK-based mental health charity. They aim to create safe and enabling communities that value everyone’s wellbeing – the type of environment where people can develop and thrive. Their thinking is based on a Japanese technique for repairing pottery, where imperfections are embraced and accepted.

Kintsugi Hope’s 12-week peer mentoring course covers different aspects of mental health including disappointment, loss, worry, and resilience. The program is designed to be taught by volunteers and is open to individuals looking for advice, support, and practical solutions for their mental and emotional wellbeing.

The Brief

We needed to take all the administration of organisations and group leaders registering, training, and running Kintsugi Hope groups, and put it online in an easy-to-navigate, accessible way.

Kintsugi Hope also needed group leaders to be able to plan and customise the content for their group’s sessions, picking from a library of available content, and be able to produce a final printable session plan.

The Challenge

The challenge was to take Kintsugi Hope’s existing paper-based onboarding process for organisations and group leaders and make it digital, automated, and efficient.

The onboarding process goes through multiple steps and stages, even engaging additional users where references are required. This all had to be brought into a single, cohesive system which was easy for organisations and group leaders to use, and also simple for Kintsugi Hope to manage and monitor.

With training being provided to group leaders via a separate website (powered by Moodle), the new site also needed to integrate with the training site. This integration had to provision user accounts in Moodle, and also had to progress the group leader’s application once their training was completed.

The Solution

We created a bespoke built system with a tailored solution that met all of Kintsugi Hope’s requirements and significantly reduced the work it needed on their part to onboard organisations and group leaders.
