Oak Hill College

A new brand and website for a growing theology college

Oak Hill College is an evangelical theological college in North London, founded in 1932 to make ordained ministry training accessible to people from a variety of backgrounds. Rooted in a Bible-centred ethos, Oak Hill blends theology, practical ministry formation—including placements in churches, hospitals, and schools—and intentional community life to prepare students for lifelong ministry.

Following some initial brand definition work, Oak Hill College (OHC) came to us with the purpose of overhauling their entire look and feel. They recognised that their brand was no longer representative of who they were, and evolution was needed to align with their current identity and future direction. At the same time, their digital presence had become difficult for prospective students to navigate. The website, having grown cluttered over time, made it challenging for new applicants to find essential information and understand the opportunities they offered.

Our first step was a series of stakeholder interviews, followed by an in-depth discovery workshop. Our UX and creative team travelled to the college in London, meeting with their team, and spending the day conducting a series of workshops to gain a deeper understanding of the heart of OHC, the brand's purpose, and the website's objectives.

From there, design work on the brand began. With the knowledge gathered from the discovery phase, we developed a range of brand concepts, exploring different approaches and stress testing the designs across different visual applications. Working closely with OHC, we iteratively refined and crafted a brand identity that they felt truly represented them.

With the brand approved, we then began developing a range of collateral, from banners to tote bags, prospectuses to road signage. OHC can now confidently use their new brand across all their media, setting them up for the future.

Website

We built the website using Statamic, providing them with a powerful yet flexible CMS. By designing custom content blocks, we empowered their team to update and manage content on their own going forward, without the need for a developer. They have the framework in place now to continually evolve and build upon the website with the confidence that it will be on brand.

Through our work on the website, we prioritised user experience and accessibility. One of the key sections of the site was the Resources area, where we implemented smart filtering, helping users quickly find the content that matters to them. This vital upgrade meant the website could be utilised as a valuable resource for potential and existing students.

We also reorganised their courses section, which over time had become dense and challenging to navigate. By breaking it into clearer, digestible sections, highlighting key details and simplifying user actions, we were able to bring clarity to the user journey. 

With their new branding woven throughout the site, along with custom-designed icons and bespoke graphics, the new site doesn't just function exceptionally well, it truly looks the part.
