Keswick Ministries is a Christian organisation based in the town of Keswick in the Lake District, England. It is best known for hosting the annual Keswick Convention, a gathering that has taken place since 1875 and attracts thousands of Christians from across the United Kingdom and around the world.
The ministry focuses on Bible teaching, spiritual growth, worship, and mission. Through conferences, events, publications, and outreach activities, Keswick Ministries has played a significant role in evangelical Christianity and continues to influence Christian communities.
We were approached by the Keswick Ministries team to design and build a new website following their recent rebrand. The goal was to create a digital experience that clearly communicated their heart, reflected their renewed brand identity and values, and helped visitors discover their ministry, engage with the Convention, and feel part of a wider community.
Our discovery session with the team and key stakeholders took us on a road trip to the Lake District, what a beautiful part of the world! The workshop allowed us to explore their user base, future plans and ambitions for the website. The time together highlighted several key priorities for improving the user experience. These included providing clearer signposting for the convention, logistics and what attendees can expect on the day, making the resource library easier to navigate so essential content is more accessible, and creating distinct areas of the website tailored to the needs of each of the organisation’s key user groups.
The insights from the discovery shaped the website’s architecture and wireframes. We signposted the convention more clearly, highlighting logistics and event details so they were easier to find at a glance, and used photography to give visitors a better idea of what to expect on the day. We also added filters to the resource library - making it possible to search by convention year or speaker - alongside a more robust search functionality to improve content discoverability. The sitemap and wireframes introduced dedicated pathways for each of the organisation's core user groups, ensuring users could quickly access the information most relevant to them. This established a clear, user-centred foundation before moving into visual design.
Following the wireframing phase, we moved into visual design, bringing the new structure and user journeys to life. Using Figma, we developed designs that built on the foundations established during discovery and wireframing. The design phase focused on creating a clear, engaging, and accessible interface, while ensuring each key user group had a tailored experience and could easily find the information most relevant to them. Working closely with Sarah (Keswick’s Head of Development), Max and Polly brought together the needs of the client and created a refreshing, refined, consistent design for a growing brand and ministry.
Moving into development, Finn brought the designs to life using the Statamic CMS platform, building on the insights gathered during discovery to create a flexible and scalable website. The build incorporated a range of bespoke features to improve content management, user engagement, and the overall experience. The resources area of the site got a huge upgrade with a new enhanced filtering system using dynamic modals and search capacities. The comprehensive resources library brought together talks, videos, speakers, and event content in one searchable, structured hub. Users can explore resources through filters such as year, speaker, or week, with sharing functionality helping extend the reach of key content.
Additional functionality included the ability to create and customise pages to their liking, using bespoke content blocks that highlights Keswick’s brand identity. The convention programme was also integrated using existing app data, creating a live, accessible schedule of sessions, speakers, and activities that helps attendees plan their experience and stay connected throughout the event.
Our partnership with Keswick Ministries has grown, and we’re proud to have helped create a new website that supports their community and makes their wealth of content easier to access. Through discovery, design, and a flexible Statamic build, we created a user-focused platform that improves navigation, encourages engagement, and gives the Keswick team the tools they need to reach their growing audience.
